Tax refund guide

OFF drugstore Myeongdong offers tax refunds for foreign visitors. With a tax refund in Korea, foreign visitors staying in the country who spend at least a set amount in one purchase get back the value-added tax (VAT) included in those products. Our staff at the checkout counter can tell you the minimum amount, and you can also check the Korea Customs Service tax refund information for foreign visitors.

  1. What do I need to bring?

Be sure to bring your physical passport. We need your passport details when you pay. A copy of your passport or a photo on your phone will not work, and without your passport, it is also hard for us to process the refund later.

  2. Get your refund right in the store

After you pay, complete the steps at the self-service tax refund kiosk inside the store to get your refund in cash. You do not have to wait at the airport or set aside extra time on your departure day.

  3. Get your refund at the airport

You can also just get the tax refund receipt in the store and complete the steps at the airport. You may be asked to show your purchases unopened, so it is safest to keep them in their packaging until just before you leave Korea.

How to keep your tax refund receipt

Keep your tax refund receipt and your purchase receipt in a separate place until you leave Korea. If you pack them deep in your suitcase, they are hard to take out at the airport. Keeping them with your passport helps you avoid losing them.

Can I exchange a product I got a tax refund on?

Products you got a tax refund on have a different exchange process. You must bring the tax refund receipt, and if you have already completed the refund, we may not be able to process it. Please read the exchanges and refunds guide first.
